Cowgirls Capture First Conference Win

Denver, Colorado -The Cowgirls opened up conference play against the Ranger of Regis today.

1st Half: NMHU 31-Regis 17 

The first quarter was both team exchanging scores for the Cowgirls Jaelyn Bates and Kamalani Anitielu both got some buckets a three for Bates and a pair of buckets for Anitielu.After one the Cowgirls led 14-8

Into the second quarter the Cowgirl offense found their stride with four different Cowgirls getting a basket. Bates led the team in the first half with 10.

2nd Half NMHU 51-72 Regis 29-42

The third quarter was all Cowgirls as they scored 20 points in the quarter out scoring the Rangers 20-12. Jessie Ford had the hot hand in the 3rd quarter scoring five points off of a long range three and pair of free throws. Cowgirls lead at the end of three 51-29.

The fourth quarter opened up with the Cowgirls a Aniya Johnson layup off of a Kapiolani Anitielu assist. The wealth was being shared by some fantastic passing by the Cowgirls. Kapiolani Anitelu would have a double-double her third on the year. However the Rangers would not go away quietly but the deficit would be to great as the Cowgirls get the victory 72-42.

Double Digits X3: The Cowgirls ended the game with 4 players in double digits

Up Next: The Cowgirls will travel to Golden to take on the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines Saturday at 1 PM.
