Strong Second Half Leads to Skyhawks Win Over Cowgirls

Durango, Colorado -The Cowgirls started week two of conference play in Durango, Colorado, with a battle against the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis.

1st Half: NMHU 41-Fort Lewis (FLC) 30

The first half of today's game started with both teams having an answer. When one would score a basket, the other team would answer. It wasn't until the second quarter that the Cowgirls would pull away.

Kapiolani Anitielu led the way in the second quarter, scoring 11 of what would be her 24 points in the game.

2nd Half NMHU 71- FLC 74

The Cowgirls would have an 11-point lead heading into the second half. Aniya Johnson scored 13 points in the game and had seven boards. However, a strong second half would belong to the Skyhawks.

The Skyhawks would score 24 of their 74 total points off turnovers against the Cowgirls, leading them to victory.

Up Next: The Cowgirls are home on Thursday, December 11, to take on Adams State.
