Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys dropped both ends of Saturday's doubleheader to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon 21-4 and 17-3. The Cowboys are now 2-5 on the season.
In game one, the Cowboys led 4-3 after four innings after scoring two in the first and another two in the third. The visitors, however, put up 12 runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Bryant O'Neil went two for three with a home run and three RBI for the Cowboys
Once again in game two, the Cowboys took the early lead when
Ryan Callanan homered in the third inning. Big innings by the Rangers in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings were too much for the Cowboys to overcome as NWOSU coasted to the victory.
Carlos Chavez,
Bryant O'Neil, and
Tony Leger recorded multi-hit games for the Cowboys.
The two teams close out the series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is at 12:00 pm.
