Las Vegas, New Mexico - The Cowboys battled for 40 minutes to earn an 84-77 win over Fort Lewis on Saturday afternoon. The win improved the Cowboys to 9-13 overall and 2-12 in the RMAC.
After trailing in the early going, the Cowboys took their first lead of the afternoon on a
Delon McCloud three-pointer at the 14:26 mark of the first half. They took a 35-33 lead into the locker room at the end of the first half.
The Cowboys led by 11 points with just over seven minutes remaining in the game, but the Skyhawks retook the lead, 68-67, with 4:07 to go in the half. NMHU closed the game on a 17-9 run, highlighted by a thunderous dunk by
Blessin Kimble, to close out the visitors and win their second consecutive home game.
Kimble scored 24 points to lead all scorers on Saturday. He was seven of ten from the floor and 10-12 from the free throw line. He added seven rebounds and four steals.
Nathan Hasberry scored 19 points and
KJ LaMonte went for 11.
NMHU out-rebounded Fort Lewis 36-32.
The Cowboys welcome Westminster to historic Las Vegas on Thursday for a 7:00 pm game.
