Dominick Castillo took the mound for the Cowboys and quickly UCCS got on the board scoring two in the first and three in the third due to some errors by the Highlands defense. However the Cowboys answered with two runs of their own. Followed up by a Gael Bernal solo shot. Castillo recorded six strikeouts as well on the day UCCS did not score again till the sixth and in the bottom half of that inning Bryant O'Neil sent one onto the tennis courts behind the right field wall for his eighth homer of the season. The Cowboys however would ultimately fall in the end by a score of 10-5.
