Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands cross country teams are at the Texas Tech Open tomorrow morning in Lubbock. The men's 8k gets under way at 7:15 am (MT) followed by the women's 6k at approximately 7:50 am (MT) at the LCU Cross Country Course.
NMHU is competing at Texas Tech for the first time since the 2021 season when the women posted an eighth place finish paced by Nieves Pacheco's top 25 finish. The Cowboys finished fourth led by then sophomore Andre Amor's individual fourth place finish.
This is the second race of the year for NMHU having opened the season at the Lori Fitzgerald Open at New Mexico State two weeks ago.
Summer Abeyta ran a personal best over the 5k course in Las Cruces to pace the Cowgirls while All-American
Weldon Chebon led the men with his fifth place finish.

Next up on the schedule for the NMHU is the annual HU XC Jam at the Gene Torres Golf Course in historic Las Vegas on September 26th.
