Mike Jones has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Special Teams player of the Week after the Cowboys win on Saturday over South Dakota Mines.
Jones, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas, returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown as the third quarter expired on Saturday afternoon to put the Cowboys up 42-21. Jones also handled punt return duties and scored three touchdowns as part of a 7-reception, 116-yard effort. He finished the game with 221 all-purpose yards in the win. Through three games, Jones has 12 receptions for 270 yards (22.5 yards per catch) and five touchdowns. He also has three kickoff returns for 141 yards (47.0 per return).
New Mexico Highlands is 3-0 for the first time since 2011after beating South Dakota Mines last Saturday on Homecoming.
The Cowboys travel to Gunnison this Saturday for a 1:00 pm game with nationally ranked Western Colorado.
