Pueblo, Colorado - The Cowboys traveled three hours up I-25 for their final non-conference game of the season but fell 70-57 to the host ThunderWolves on Saturday afternoon. New Mexico Highlands drops to 4-11 on the year, while CSU Pueblo improves to 8-4.
CSU Pueblo shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the opening half to take a 37-24 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.
The Cowboys responded with a 12–0 run to open the second half, holding the ThunderWolves scoreless for more than four minutes to pull within one point at 37-36 with 15:57 remaining. Just over two minutes later,
Ibrahima Sacko converted a layup to tie the game at 38-38. The comeback stalled from there, as CSU Pueblo outscored NMHU 32–19 the rest of the way to secure the win.
Ramiah Adedigba led the Cowboys with 18 points, marking his fifth consecutive game scoring in double figures. Sacko added 14 points off the bench for NMHU.
Wesley Isoje and Sacko paced the Cowboys on the glass with seven rebounds apiece.
For the game, NMHU shot 38.9 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from the free-throw line.
The ThunderWolves will visit New Mexico Highlands on January 24 for a match up that will count toward the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
