Cowgirls Fall On Opening Day

Los Lunas, New Mexico- The Cowgirls Softball team opened the 2026 campaign with a game in Los Lunas against the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M.

 

Game 1: West Texas A&M 8- NMHU 0

The First game of the season for the Cowgirls was no cake walk, as they opened against a top-10 opponent. While the Cowgirls were held scoreless, Jolissa Valdez and Hallie Watkins recorded their first career hits as Cowgirls, as Valdez had a triple in the left-center gap; however, the Cowgirls were unable to score a run.

 

Up Next: The Cowgirls are back in action tomorrow as they face UTPB at 3:00 PM and Sul Ross to follow at 5:30 PM.
