The Cowboys, members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will continue their series with Eastern New Mexico, a Lone Star Conference member. New Mexico Highlands and the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds are scheduled to open the 2026 season on Thursday, August 27th, in historic Las Vegas.

New Mexico Highlands will continue its annual match up with Western New Mexico, also a  Lone Star Conference member, in a series known as the La Batalla Bowl. The Mustangs and the Cowboys will meet on Saturday, September 5th, in Silver City, NM.

The four-year agreements ensure continued regional competition and maintain long-standing rivalries between the three New Mexico institutions.

"Rivalry games define college football, especially in-state rivals.  The history, the traditions, and the competitive atmosphere make these match ups special," said Director of Athletics Scott Noble.  "They reflect the passion of our students, alumni, and fans.  We look forward to hard fought, competitive games that reflect the values of our universities."
