Morrison, CO– The Cowgirls played game one of the weekend against the Regis Rangers. The two teams battled for their first conference win of the season.

The Cowgirls and Rangers traded blows early in the set before the Cowgirls found breathing room and kept pushing, taking a slim lead before the Rangers battled back, but the Cowgirls took the first set.

Set two was a majority controlled by the Rangers, but the Cowgirls were able to battle back into the driver's seat and tie it up at fifteen. As the set progressed, the Rangers and Cowgirls traded shots, but the Rangers prevailed in a deep set two to tie the match 1-1.

The third set was a back-and-forth of one-two, then two-one, until the Rangers put together a run and took set three.

Set four was all Cowgirls as they were able to capture the lead and sustain a favorable lead as they cruised to a fourth-set victory to send it to set five

The Rangers built a commanding 7-1 lead in the final set before the Cowgirls gained momentum to cut the deficit to four at 11-7. Chip… chip… the Cowgirls chipped away at the score. However, a Cowgirls service error gave the Rangers the match point lead. The Cowgirls defense then stepped up with a huge block from
Elise Fourt, followed by a
Marissa Sandoval-Moya service ace, followed by a service error for the Rangers to take the win.

Career Milestone: Aziza Morris of the Cowgirls recorded her 700
th career kill in a Cowgirls uniform this evening.
