Las Vegas, NM– The Cowgirls returned home for the first of three games at home this season starting with the instate rival Eastern New Mexico.
The start of the matchup was proven to be energy based and the Cowgirls had all the energy their way as they took a five-point lead forcing the Greyhound to use a timeout. Out of the timeout the energy was match by Eastern New Mexico brining the lead for the Cowgirls to three. The Greyhounds then forced a Cowgirls timeout, and the Greyhounds were able to tie it up at 20 apiece and following that took a lead of 21-20. Eastern New Mexico battled back were able to take set one.
Eastern New Mexico jumped out to an early lead in set two a lead as big as seven at the start before the Cowgirls called a timeout to slow the momentum. The Cowgirls were able to get back into the set after a five-point run. However, the Greyhounds got the momentum back as they were able to take a commanding lead and eventually would close out the second, taking a commanding lead
The Cowgirls jumped out to an early lead once again and were able to build on it forcing an Eastern New Mexico timeout. The Greyhounds would then recapture the lead forcing a Cowgirls timeout. Could the Cowgirls battle back from the deficit? The Cowgirls climbed themselves out of a hole a bit but with the momentum swing the Greyhounds used yet another timeout needing three to complete the sweep to slow the momentum. However the Greyhound were able to get the win and complete the sweep, to emerge victorious against the Cowgirls for the second time this season.
UP NEXT: The Cowgirls will be back at home Friday to take on the South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers at the Wilson Center.
