Lakewood, Colorado - The New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys (12-18, 10-9 RMAC) fell 75-67 at Colorado Christian University (13-14, 8-11 RMAC) in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game on Thursday night.
After a back-and-forth first half, the Cowboys trailed 41-27 at the break. NMHU battled throughout the second half, outscoring CCU 40-34 after intermission, but couldn't overcome a Cougar attack that hit timely shots down the stretch.
The Cowboys shot 40.6% (26-of-64) from the floor and 66.7% (14-of-21) from the free throw line. They out rebounded the Cougars, 43-39.
Four Cowboys scored in double figures, led by
BJ Comer's 13 points.
Ibrahima Sacko added 11, while
Ramiah Adedigba and
Wesley Isoje had 10 apiece.
The Cowboys wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon at UCCS. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm. The Mountain Lions dropped a 101-94 decision to Adams State University on Thursday night. They are tied at 10-9 with the Cowboys in the conference standings, making Saturday's game key for conference playoff seeding.
