Cowboys Drop Close One to Orediggers

Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands Cowboys were back at home for the first time in conference play to take on the Orediggers of Colorado School of Mines.

Game 1: Colorado School of Mines (CSM)15, NHMU 14 (10 Innings)

The Cowboys played their first conference game at home today, and the Orediggers put up four runs in the first inning following a dropped fly ball in the inning to get the bats going However the Cowboys matched their four runs in the bottom half on a Jeremiah D'Arezzo had a double down the left field line to bring in the first runs of the Cowboys then Truett Ross and Tamden Webb-Tate singled to tie it all up at four. The Cowboys then got another run in the 3rd on a Webb-Tate single.
CSM had an answer on a well hit homerun to tie it at five in the fourth. CSM would then score three runs in the 6th to give CSM the lead.

The Cowboys would have an answer on a two-run home run off the scoreboard by Alex Galvan to make it an Orediggers one-run lead.

Webb- Tate continued his good day with a double to the left-center gap to give him his third and fourth RBI's on the day to give the Cowboys the 9-8 lead in the seventh. Lubby Marrujo added on the lead with an RBI single to add on to the Cowboys' lead.CSM would get two runs to tie the game up at 10 headed into the bottom of the 9th.

The Cowboys would go three up, three down in the bottom of the 9th, as there was more baseball to be played in game one of the series.

A big five-run 10th gave the Orediggers the lead, headed into the bottom of the 10th, 15-10 CSM.

The Cowboys would not go away as Ryan Rodriguez would go big fly to left field for a Grand Slam to make it 15-14 Mines and only one out. However, it would be enough as the Cowboys would fall.



Up Next: The Cowboys are back in action for a double header against Colorado School of Mines, with the first pitch at Noon.
