Cowboys Fall in Series Finale

Grand Junction, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands Cowboys fall in the series finale in their final game on the Western Slope of Colorado.

Game 4: Colorado Mesa 4, NHMU 3

Colorado Mesa and New Mexico Highlands wrapped up their season today in Grand Junction, and it was very much similar to the first game of the season. Colorado Mesa jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second. Then the Cowboys took the lead with a two-run home run from Tamden Webb-Tate to right, giving the Cowboys a 2-1 lead. Colorado then scored two runs in the sixth to give them a one-run lead. The Cowboys answered with a run of their own to tie the game up, and the game would stay tied going into the 9th. Then, a throwing air off the pickoff move from the Cowboys pitcher put the winning run on third. The Cowboys brought in an extra infielder to cut the run. However, a deep fly ball by the Mavericks' second baseman would walk it off, and the Cowboys would fall. Andrew Baltazar went eight innings pitched, striking out two and giving up two earned runs.

Up Next: The Cowboys return home for their conference home opener for Pink Weekend against Colorado School of Mines.
