Las Vegas, New Mexico - For the second consecutive year, wrestler
Ivan Smith was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II At-Large Academic All-District Team. Additionally, Smith was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot, where CSC members will vote on the Academic All-America® teams.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
A native of Farmington, New Mexico, Smith owns a 3.99 grade point average while majoring in Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. He was named the 2025-26 RMAC Academic Wrestler of the Year at the conclusion of the season.
On the mat, Smith earned NCAA Division II All-America honors at 165 pounds after placing seventh at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. He also finished as the runner-up at NCAA Super Region VI and earned First Team All-RMAC recognition. Smith went undefeated in RMAC dual competition and climbed as high as No. 6 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings.
Smith posted an outstanding 32-6 overall record, closing the regular season on an eight-match winning streak highlighted by three consecutive major decisions. Of his 32 victories, 22 came by bonus points, underscoring his dominance throughout the season.
