The Cowgirl Soccer team has learned their fate for the NCAA Regional Tournament and their season is not yet over. They were selected to the NCAA Regional Tournament after finishing 12-6-2 overall and 9-3-2 in RMAC play. This is the first appearance for the Cowgirls at the NCAA Tournament.
The Cowgirls will look for sweet revenge as they take on the Regis University Rangers in the first round. The Rangers earned the automatic bid to the tournament after winning the RMAC Tournament Championship by defeating the Fort Lewis Skyhawks 2-1.
The Rangers and Cowgirls met up in the Semifinals of the RMAC Tourney and the Rangers came away with the 2-0 win. The first time the two teams met up the Cowgirls took the game 1-0.
The Cowgirls have had one of their best seasons on record thus far. The Cowgirls earned the number three seed in the RMAC tournament, the highest ever for the Cowgirl program. Between two Cowgirls, Julissa Rodriguez and Amanda Rose Johnson, they earned five RMAC Player of the Week selections. Head Coach
Justin Wagar was selected as the RMAC Co-Coach of the Year. Rodriguez was also named to the All-RMAC First Team as well as named the RMAC Player of the Year. Both Johnson and Rodriguez earned All-RMAC Tournament honors. Five Cowgirls were named to the RMAC All-Academic Team and three Cowgirls were named to the All-RMAC third team.
The Cowgirls will be traveling to Winona, Minn. to take on the Rangers on the campus of Winona State University. Game time is set for 1 pm CST on 11/12.
