The NMHU Cowboys continued their winning ways on the baseball diamond as they handily defeated the Cougars of Colorado Christian University on 2/26 by a final score of 18-7. The Cowboys would struggle early with the Cougars but would ride big fifth, sixth and seventh inning offensive surges to coast to their seventh win of the season. The Cowboys are now 7-1 overall and 1-0 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will continue their RMAC series with Colorado Christian with a double header at 11:00am on 2/27 in Las Vegas, N.M.
The Cowboys were an offensive machine as they finished the day with a team batting average of .488. The Cowboys offensive attack finished the day with three doubles, two triples and one home run for the game.
Starting on the mound for the Cowboys was
Drew Vassil (4-0). Vassil earned his fourth win of the season to maintain his unblemished record. Vassil would retire six batters in seven innings of work. Vassil would allow seven hits and six earned runs for the day.
Derek Grieve and
Daniel Doty would come in for relief for Vassil. Grieve would pitch two thirds of an inning and Doty would pitch one and one third innings for the Cowboys and record on strikeout and allow one hit and one earned run.
Offensive leaders for the Cowboys include:

Kyle Gutchewsky. Bustillos finished the day going 2 for 3 with three runs scored and one RBI. Brown finished going 3 for 5 with three runs scored, three RBI's and one triple. Carr finished going 3 for 4 with three runs scored, two RBI's and one double. Gutchewsky would finish going 3 for 6 with two runs scored, three RBI's and one homerun.
