#8 Cowboys Pound Cougars 22-3

The #8 NMHU Cowboys continued their winning way on 4/16 with a 22-3 thrashing of the Colorado Christian University Cougars. The Cowboys dropped the hammer on the Cougars early with a six run first inning and would continue to pile it on en route to their 30th win of the season. With the lopsided win, the Cowboys increase their overall record to 30-6 and the RMAC record to 20-3 on the season. The Cowboys look to complete their fourth RMAC sweep of the season as they conclude their RMAC series with the Cougars with a double header on 4/17 at Runyon Park in Pueblo, Colo.

As a team the Cowboys finished the day with a .519 batting average, nine doubles and a season high six homeruns in the shellacking of the Cougars. The Cowboys batted in 22 runs on the day and capped off their 18th game in which they have scored 10 runs or more.

On the mound for the Cowboys was Drew Vassil (10-1). Vassil earned his 10th win of the season by allowing just two runs on five hits in five innings pitched and recorded three strikeouts in the win. Cruz Sedillo would come in and allow one earned run on two hits in one inning pitched recording one strikeout. Dylan Wisneski came in and allowed no runs on no hits in one inning pitched while recording one strikeout. Lawrence Lasenberry  came in and allowed zero earned runs on one hit in one inning pitched and recorded one strikeout on the day Andrew Herrman would close out the day for the Cowboys with a one inning perfromance allowing zero runs on zero hits..

Outstanding player for the Cowboys include: Kyle Gutchewsky, Thomas DeAngelis, Phillip Rodriguez and Danny Brown. Gutchewsky finished the day going a perfect 4-4 with three runs scored, four RBI's and one homerun. DeAngelis was also perfect from the plate going 3-3 with one RBI and two doubles. Rodriguez finished the day going 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI's and one homerun. Brown rounds out the top performers going 2-3 with two runs scored, four RBI's, one double and one homerun.

The Cowboys will go for their third straight RMAC series sweep as they close out their series with CCU on 4/17 at Runyon Park in Pueblo, Colo. with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.
