The #10 NMHU Cowboys completed their sixth straight RMAC series win as they swept the Orediggers of the Colorado School of Mines. The Cowboys took all four games by scores of 17-6, 10-2, 4-3 and 12-9. The Cowboys are now 25-6 overall and 15-3 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will be in action again on 4/9 as they travel to Denver, Colo. to take on the Rangers of Regis University.
The Cowboys sent their senior class off on a winning note with the series sweep over the Orediggers. The Cowboys finish the series with 53 hits in 134 at bats for a team batting average of .396 for the series. The Cowboys racked up 10 doubles and four home runs in the series sweep.
Earning wins for the Cowboys during the series include:
Drew Vassil (8-1),
Trent Evins (4-0),
Tyler Wichmann (3-0) and
Tyler Shaddy(2-1). Vassil earned his eighth win of the season with a seven inning performance. Vassil allowed just nine hits and five earned runs in his outing while recording seven strikeouts in the win. Evins pitched a great game in which he allowed no earned runs in a six inning outing. Evins allowed just three hits while recording four strikeouts for his fourth straight win. Wichmann earned his third win of the season with a three inning outing. Wischmann allowed just three hits and one earned run while recording three strikeouts. In game four of the series sweep it was Tyler Shaddy that would come away with the win after a two inning performance. Shaddy allowed no hits and one earned run during his outing.
Outstanding performers for the series include:
Jason Carr,
Christian Garcia and
Danny Brown. Carr finished the weekend going 8-14 with five runs scored, nine RBI's, one double and two home runs. Garcia finished 9-18 with eight runs scored, three RBI's and two doubles. Brown would round out the top three going 7-14 with five runs, nine RBI's and two doubles.
The Cowboys will be in action again on 4/9 as they travel to Denver, Colo. to take on the Rangers of Regis University.
