#6 Cowboys Run Over Metro State Roadrunners 10-3

The #6 NMHU Cowboys dropped the Metro State Roadrunners by a final score of 10-3 on 4/30 in Denver, Colo. The Cowboys and Roadrunners played tight early as each team traded long shots out of the park, but the Cowboys high octane offense blew the game wide open in the later innings. The Cowboys would score nine runs in the final five innings to take game one from Metro State in the RMAC series. The Cowboys are now 34-9 overall and 24-5 in RMAC play. The Cowboys will take on Metro State in a RMAC double header on 5/1 in Denver, Colo.

The Cowboys would finish the day with a team batting average of .333 as they would tally up 11 hits on the day. The Cowboys would end the game hitting three doubles and two homeruns in the 34th win of the season.

Getting the win on the mound for the Cowboys was Drew Vassil (12-1). Vassil would earn his 12th win of the season with an eight and one-third inning performance. Vassil would allow just seven hits and three runs while recording five strikeouts in the win. Tyler Wichmann would come on for relief of Vassil and would face two batters. Derek Grieve would come in to for the final two outs and get them in dominating fashion as he would get the next two batters out in order.

Outstanding performers for the Cowboys include: David Bustillos, Phillip Rodriguez and Danny Brown. Bustillos would finish the day going 3-4 with two runs scored and two doubles. Rodriguez would finish the day going 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI's and one homerun. Brown would round out the top three by going 2-3 with two runs scored, one RBI and one double.

The Cowboys will take the diamond again on 5/1 as they face the Roadrunners in a RMAC double header in Denver, Colo.
