Cowboys Win Ninth RMAC Series of the Season; Earn #1 Seed in RMAC Tournament

The #6 NMHU Cowboys wrapped up their ninth RMAC series win of the season on 5/1 as they split in their double header against the Metro State Roadrunners. The Cowboys would win the first game of the double header by a final score of 12-10 but would fall in the series finale 11-3. The Cowboys finish the regular season with a 35-10 overall record and a 25-6 RMAC record. The Cowboys will now be entering into the post-season RMAC Baseball Championship Tournament on 5/5 in Kearney, Neb. The Cowboys have earned the #1 seed in tourney after capturing the first regular season title in NMHU history. The Cowboys will take on the sixth seeded Regis Rangers in their first round game.

The NMHU Cowboys finished off a great regular season in style as they finished their final two games of the 2010 regular season hitting .309 as a team. The Cowboys racked up five doubles and five homeruns in the two games as well as brought in 14 RBI's.

Getting the win for the Cowboys in game one on the day was Tyler Shaddy (3-1). Shaddy pitched one and two-third innings for the Cowboys and allowed just one hit and no runs to secure the win. Shaddy also recorded four strikeouts in the eight batters that he faced on the day. Getting the start on the mound for the Cowboys was Trent Evins. Evins pitched four and two-third innings allowing six runs on six hits and recorded five strikeouts. David Saiz pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing one run on one hit and recorded one strikeout. Andrew Herrman also pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed two runs on one hit and recorded one strikeout. Derek Grieve would set things up for Shaddy as he pitched two and one-third innings allowing one run on two hits.

In game two Danny Brown (4-2) would get the loss. Brown pitched two innings and allowed four runs on five hits and struck out two batters. Also seeing action on the mound in the loss were: Steven Becerra, Dylan Wisneski, Lawrence Lasenberry, Cruz Sedilllo and Steve Gabbert.

Outstanding performer in the double header for the Cowboys was Jason Carr. In the double header Carr went 5-6 with four runs scored, two RBI's, three doubles and two homeruns.

The Cowboys will be in action again on 5/5 as they take on the Regis Ranger in the RMAC Baseball Championship Tournament in Kearney, Neb. The Cowboys have earned the #1 seed in tourney after capturing the first regular season title in NMHU history. The Cowboys will take on the sixth seeded Regis Rangers in their first round game.
