Turnovers Prove Costly for Cowboys

Turnovers are costly. That line held true on 9/11 as the Cowboys fell to the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University by a final score of 14-6. The Cowboys offense would throw three interceptions during their tangle with the Aggies and all three would prove detrimental to the Cowboys future. The Aggies intercepted the ball early to put points on the board to take an early lead of 7-0 in the first quarter. The Aggies would put just one more score on the board for the game, and that would prove to be enough as the Aggies held on for the win. The Cowboys are now 0-2 on the season heading into RMAC play. The Cowboys will host the OreDiggers from the Colorado School of Mines on 9/18.

The Cowboys offense would only manage to put up 181 total yards for the day (75 Rushing and 106 Passing). Quarterback, Jordan Mendoza, would struggle in his first game of the season as he finished the night completing 16 of 35 passes for 106 yards and throw three interceptions.

The Cowboy defense held strong as they were on the field the majority of the night. The Aggies would win the time of possession battle as they held the ball for 31:47 of the ballgame. The Cowboy defense would hold the Aggies to 106 yards on the ground and 181 passing for a total of 279 yards. Leading the defense for the Cowboys was Tony Udley. Udely finished the night with seven tackles, two tackles for a loss of four yards and a fumble recovery which he returned for 50 yards.

The Cowboys are now 0-2 on the season heading into RMAC play. The Cowboys will host the OreDiggers from the Colorado School of Mines on 9/18. Kick-Off is set for 1:00 pm at Perkins Stadium in Las Vegas, NM. If you can't make it to the game, you can watch it LIVE on the America One Networks.
