Cowboys Fall to Arkansas Tech 8-3

The NMHU Cowboys fell to Arkansas Tech on 2/27 by a final score of 8-3. The Cowboys would jump out to an early 3-0 lead through the first five innings, but couldn't hold on as Arkansas Tech would score six unanswered runs in the final three innings to come away with the win. With the loss, the Cowboys fall to 4-3 on the season. The Cowboys return home this week as they host to the Rangers of Regis University on 3/4 in their first Rocky Mountain Series of the season.

As a team the Cowboys hit .314 for the day while hitting one double. Israel Yeomans had the high numbers for the Cowboys for the game. Yeomans ended his day going 2-5 with one run scored and one double.

Greg Fowler got the start for the Cowboys and finished is day allowing two runs on two hits while recording four strikeouts in five and one third innings pitched. Jason Sirak (0-1) came in for relief of Fowler and was credited the loss. Sirak allowed two runs on three hits in two thirds of an inning pitched. Alec New would then come in for Sirak and allow two runs on two hits in two thirds of an inning pitched. Edgar Vela would close out the day for the Cowboys. Vela would allow two runs on five hits while retiring three batters in one and one third innings pitched.

The Cowboys will travel home to take the field at their newly renovated ball park as they play host to the Rangers of Regis University for their first RMAC series of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Las Vegas, N.M.
