Thunderwolves Too Much for Cowboys

The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo on 3/26 by a final score of 12-3 in game one of their four game series against CSU-Pueblo. The Cowboys would come out swinging in the first inning as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Thunderwolves after the first inning. That would be all the Cowboys would score in the game as the Thunderwolves answered back with a five run second inning to take the lead 5-3. The Thunderwolves would string together seven more runs in the game to defeat the Cowboys 12-3. With the loss the Cowboys fall to 11-9 on the season and 6-6 in RMAC play.

As a team the Cowboys finished the day with a .212 batting average and three doubles. The Cowboys would also steal two bases on the day. J.P. Hollywood and A.J. Alexander would have the high numbers for the day for the Cowboys. Hollywood would finish the 1-3 with one double and one RBI. Alexander would finish 1-3 with one run scored and one RBI.

Trent Evins (2-4) would get the start for the Cowboys and allow only five earned runs as costly errors would plague the Cowboys. Evins would allow five earned runs on 12 hits and strikeout two CSU-P batters in three and two-third innings pitched. Cruz Sedillo would then come in and allow one run on two hits and strikeout one in two and one-third innings pitched. Chris Waha would then come in for Sedillo and allow no runs on two hits in two innings pitched while retiring two CSU-P batters. Antonio Huez Robles would then come in for the ninth inning and allow no runs and no hits in one inning pitched while striking out two batters.

The Cowboys will take the diamond again on 3/26 when they face the Thunderwolves for games two and three of their four game RMAC series in Las Vegas, N.M. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
