NMHU Football kicks off their 2011 Spring Drills on 3/28. The Cowboys first year head coach
Eric Young and staff are ready to hit the field with their Cowboys and begin a new era of Cowboy Football. The Cowboys will suit up for eleven practices culminating with the Spring Showcase on 4/16 starting at 2:00 p.m. Coach Young has brought in a very experienced staff that has worked at all levels and is very excited about taking the reins of the Cowboy Football program.
On the offensive side of the ball, Coach Young has brought in a very energetic and experienced staff. Coach Young has brought in Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach Sheldon Cross who was most recently a Graduate Assistant at Washington State University. Heading up men in trenches is Offensive Line Coach / Recruiting Coordinator Chad Raymond who was most recently a Graduate Assistant at the University of Texas-El Paso. Wide Receivers Coach
Kenny Jackson is the final new addition to the offensive staff for the Cowboys. Coach Jackson most recently held the same position at the College of the Sequoias.
Art Abreu Jr. and
Chris Ferragamo were retained from the previous staff and will work primarily with the Tight Ends and Offensive Line.
Defensively, Coach Young has put together a staff that will bring a higher level of play to the Cowboys defensive unit. Defensive Coordinator Robbie Quinn will lead the Cowboy Defense this season and looks to turn some heads in the RMAC. Coach Quinn was most recently at Fresno City College. Defensive Line Coach / Director of Football Operations
Tony Pavlic comes to NMHU from the College of the Siskiyous where he held the same position for Coach Young. Coach
Ivan Cordova will head up the Linebackers for the Cowboys in the fall. Coach Cordova comes to NMHU for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas where he was a graduate assistant for the past two seasons. Coach
Eric Young will be working with the Defensive Backs over the season as well as oversee the entire NMHU Football program. Coach Artie Allen was retained from the previous staff and will serve as a Defensive Assistant.
“I am ready to get these guys on the field for the next couple of weeks. This is a great time for my staff and myself to evaluate our team and gauge where we are right now and let us know what we need to do to get where we want to be,” commented NMHU Head Coach
