Cowboys Fall in RMAC Opener 4-2

The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Rangers of Regis University on 3/4 by a final score of 4-3 in their first RMAC game of the season. The Cowboys would jump out to a 2-1 lead after the second inning, but just couldn't pull away from the Rangers. Two untimely errors by the Cowboys would turn into runs for the Rangers and lead to final score of 4-2. With the loss the Cowboys drop to 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in RMAC play. The Cowboys look to even the score with Regis on 3/5 as they play games two and three of their four game RMAC series starting at 12:00 p.m. in Las Vegas, N.M.

The Cowboy offense would start off early with a two run second innings, but would then struggle with the Rangers pitching as they would go scoreless the rest of game. The Cowboys finished the day with a .214 team batting average. Jarod Robinette would finish with the high numbers for the Cowboys as he would finish the day going 2-3 with one run scored, one RBI and one double.

Trent Evins (1-2) would get the start for the Cowboys against the Rangers and suffer defeat for the second time this season. Evins would finish the day allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out seven batters and walking four in six innings pitched. Richard Sandoval would come in for relief of Evins and allow no runs on two hits while retiring one batter in two innings pitched. Alec New would come in for the final inning and allow no runs on one hit and strikeout two Regis batters in his one inning pitched.

The Cowboys will take the diamond again on 3/5 as they take on the Rangers of Regis University in games two and three of their four game RMAC series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Las Vegas, N.M.
