The NMHU Cowboys got back on track on 3/6 with their first RMAC win of the season over Regis University 10-4 in Las Vegas, N.M. The Cowboys jumped out to an early lead on the Rangers as they would lead 8-0 after the first five innings. The Rangers would attempt a late comeback in the eighth inning as they would score four runs, but that wouldn't be enough to catch the Cowboys. With the win the Cowboys improve to 5-6 on the season and 1-3 in RMAC play.
The Cowboy offense would awaken in this game as they finished with a .400 team batting average. The Cowboys would have one triple on the day by
Jarod Robinette. The Cowboys would finish the day with 14 hits and steal two bases in their 10-4 win over the Rangers.
Clay Mohr,
J.P. Hollywood and
Thomas King would have the high numbers for the Cowboys in the game. Mohr finished the day going 2-3 with three runs scored. Hollywood finished the day 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's. King finished the day 3-5 with two RBI's.
Jason Sirak (1-1) got the win for the Cowboys on the mound against the Rangers. Sirak finished the day allowing no runs on four hits and struck out three Regis batters in seven innings pitched.
Cruz Sedillo would come in for relief of Sirak and allow four runs on four hits in four batters faced in the eighth inning.
Edgar Vela would come in for relief of Sedillo and allow no runs and no hits while retiring three Regis batters in two innings pitched.
The Cowboys will continue their home stand as they host RMAC rival the University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on 3/11 in Las Vegas, N.M. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
