Roadrunners Too Much for Cowboys

The NMHU Cowboys fell to the Roadrunners of Metro State College 7-1 on 4/10. The Roadrunners would take an early lead in the second inning as they would go up 2-0 after the top of the second. The Cowboys would score as well in the second inning making the score 2-1 through two innings played. That would be as close as the Cowboys would come to the Roadrunners. Metro State would score five more runs over the third and fourth innings to go up 7-1 and never look back as neither team would score the rest of the game. With the loss the Cowboys fall to 15-17 on the season and 9-14 in RMAC play.

The Cowboys would finish with a .250 team batting average for the day. Thomas King would drive in Eric Maupin with a single to score the Cowboys lone run of the day. A.J. Alexander and Israel Yeomans would lead the Cowboys in offensive numbers for the day. Alexander would finish 3-4 and Yeomans would finish 2-4 for the day.

Edgar Vela (0-2) would get the start for the Cowboys and be credited for the loss. Vela would allow five runs on seven hits and strikeout two batters in two and two-third innings pitched. Chris Waha would them come in for Vela and allow two runs (one earned) and five hits while striking out one batter in three and one-third inning pitched . Richard Sandoval would then come in and allow no runs and four hits and strikeout three Metro State batters in two innings pitched. Cruz Sedillo would then come in for the final inning and hold the Roadrunners scoreless and hitless in the ninth inning allowing no runs and no hits while striking out one batter in one inning pitched.

The Cowboys will hit the road this coming week as they travel to Golden. Colo. to take on the OreDiggers of the Colorado School of Mines for a four game RMAC series starting on 4/15. First pitch on 4/15 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
