Cowboys Edged Out by Roadrunners 2-1

Despite a late rally, the NMHU Cowboys fell to the Roadrunners of Metro State College 2-1 on 4/8. The Roadrunners would hold the Cowboys to just four hits on the day and no extra base hits. The Cowboys would threaten late as they scored one run in the eighth inning off a sacrifice fly by Erik Scott to score Thomas King, but that wouldn't be enough for the Cowboys. With the loss the Cowboys are now 15-14 on the season and 9-11 in RMAC play.

The Cowboys would finish the day with a season low .138 team batting average and four hits on the day. Trent Evins (2-6) would get the start on the mound for the Cowboys and be credited with the loss. Evins would hold the Roadrunners to two runs on six hits and strikeout five Metro State batters in eight and one-third innings pitched. Richard Sandoval would then come in and face the final two batters as he allowed no hits and no runs in two-thirds of an inning pitched.

The Cowboys will take on the Roadrunners for games two and three of their RMAC series on 4/8 in Las Vegas, N.M. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
