#18 Cowboys Swept in Pueblo

The diamond Cowboys fell 8-6 in their final game at CSU-Pueblo on 3/25. #18 Highlands' record drops to 18-7 overall (11-5 RMAC) while Pueblo's record improve to 15-11 overall (12-4 RMAC). Highlands is 5-5 in their last 10 games and Pueblo is on an eight game winning streak.

“Pueblo out-played us in every capacity and out competed us all weekend,” commented Head Coach Steve Jones. “We have to show up better and healthy for next weekend's series.”

Highlands trailed the entire game starting with a solo homerun from Schindler. The Cowboys gave up another four runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh and eighth innings. As they trailed by six going into the eighth, the Cowboys made an effort to make up runs by capitalizing on Jordan Chavez being plunked by a pitch. With Chavez on first, Eric Maupin singled up the left side putting a runner in scoring position. Clay Mohr, who went 3-5 with two RBI's, doubled to left field scoring Chavez.

The ninth inning was nearly identical to the Highlands' eighth with three runs on four hits and one left on base.

Eric Maupin hit 2-3 on the day with two RBI's and a double. Chris Prokupek's record fell to 3-2 during his 4.2 IP. Prokupek and Oscar Almeida both fanned five apiece.

Highlands hosts Colorado Mesa University for a weekend series starting on 3/30. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
