The Diamond Cowboys dropped the first game of their four game series against Regis University on 4/20/12 12-2. Even though the 'Pokes had 12 hits on the day, they still left nine on base. Highlands drops to 27-11 (20-9 RMAC) while Regis improves to 20-18 (15-14 RMAC).
Jason Sirak fell to 3-1 on the bump with his five innings pitched and 24 batters faced.
Regis struck early with four runs scored in the first inning along with holding the Cowboys scoreless until the fifth inning. The Rangers' first four to cross the plate were scored on four hits including a two-run homerun by RU's Brault near the newly donated Southwest Capital Bank scoreboard in right field.
Highlands fifth inning was started by a triple from
Jordan Falcon to right center. The next batter,
Josh McMahon, grounded out to the short stop and crossed Falcon.
The Cowboys scored next in the eighth inning when
Matt Gualco scored from
Luis Saenz grounding out to the short stop.
