Rangers Eliminate Cowboys from RMAC Tournament 3-0

The NMHU Cowboys quest for a fourth RMAC Tournament Championship while under 15 year Head Coach Steve Jones was cut short on 5/11 with a 3-0 loss to the Rangers of Regis University. The Rangers shut out the Cowboys for the first time in the 2012 season to advance to the RMAC Tournament Championship game on 5/12 against the Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. The Cowboys struggled throughout the night batting .187 as a team against the Rangers. With the loss, the Cowboys drop to 39-14 on the season and will now wait for the NCAA Regional selections to know their post-season fate. The Cowboys were ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Central Regional Poll before the RMAC Tournament.

Ray Torres (5-2) got the start on the hill for the Pokes. Torres allowed three runs on eight hits in seven and two-third innings pitched while striking out seven Regis batters. Richard Sandoval came in for relief of Torres and shut the Rangers down allowing no runs and no hits in one and one-third inning pitched while recording one strike out.

AJ Alexander led the Cowboys in hitting for the night finishing 2-4 for the game.

The Cowboys will now wait for the NCAA Regional Rankings to see if they qualify for the NCAA Regional Tournament.
