Cowboys Rally Against Greyhounds

Box Score Las Vegas, N.M. – NMHU played on Mar. 12 against the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds. Led by Head Coach Steve Jones, the Cowboys were looking to win their tenth game in a row. Against Eastern New Mexico, the Cowboys came from behind for the win 11-10. The Cowboys are now 12-5 in overall play.

In the first inning, a Cowboys' error would result in the first run of the game. The Greyhounds would have the lead 1-0 after the top of the first inning.

The Cowboys went scoreless through the second inning. After the top of the third inning, the Cowboys were down 5-0. At the Cowboys' next at bats, Scott Frazier crossed the plate for their first run of the day. At the beginning of the fourth inning, the score was 5-1.

The Greyhounds attempted to seal the win in the fourth inning when they drove in four runs. They created a huge deficit for the Cowboys, 9-1

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cowboys proved their resilience. The Greyhounds' ran into trouble when the Cowboys loaded the bases. Jared Jamerson hit a grand slam and cut the Greyhounds' lead 9-5.

With two hits for doubles by Chris Pile and Jarod Middleton, the Cowboys were able to score another run in the fifth inning. The score was then 9-6.

A scoreless inning for the Greyhounds in the top of the sixth put the Cowboys in position to close the deficit again. With two outs, Kyle Davis hit a double down the right field line and scored two runs. The two runs made the score 9-8 at the top of the seventh inning.

The Greyhounds extended their lead by cashing in one run in the seventh inning, the score was now 10-8.

The Cowboys would claim the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning with three runs. Jarod Jamerson continued his great hitting day with an RBI triple.  Jamerson was brought in by a Jordan Chavez hit for the Cowboys' second run of the inning. Then Chavez crossed the plate for the final run of the inning. The score was 11-10 at the end of the seventh inning.

When the final out was recorded, the Cowboys had won their tenth straight game by the final score of 11-10.
