Box Score 2 Grand Junction, Colo. – The NMHU Cowboy Baseball team dropped both games of their conference double-header, on Mar. 23, against the no. 17 Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University. The Mavericks won game one 11-1 and finished up 4-1 in game two of the double-header. With the losses, the Cowboys fall to 10-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and 14-11 overall.

The Cowboys scored first in game one, when
Matt Gualco brought
Jordan Goliat across home plate with an RBI single to right field. The first inning ended with the Cowboys holding a 1-0 lead.
The Mavericks offense took over in the bottom of the second inning, manufacturing three runs on two hits and two Cowboy errors. They continued the offensive momentum in the bottom of the third inning, putting up six more runs on six hits and taking a 9-1 lead after three innings played.
The Mavericks picked up another couple of runs in the sixth and the Cowboys weren't able to get anything going against CMU's starting pitcher. The final score was 11-1 in favor of the Mavericks.
CMU 4 – NMHU 1
The Mavericks picked up where they left off in game one, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first innings and taking an early 2-0 lead.
The Cowboys'
Tyler Hayes scored in the top of the third inning, cutting the CMU advantage down to one run (2-1).
The Mavericks scored another two runs in the sixth inning and once again the CMU starting pitcher stymied the Cowboys' offense. The Mavericks would win the second game of the double-header 4-1 and secure their third victory of the four-game series with the Cowboys.
