Las Vegas, N.M. – Cowboy Football Linebacker
Jared Koster has been selected for the 2013 Beyond Sports Network NCAA DII Preseason All-America Third Team. The Corona, Calif. native will be a junior in the upcoming 2013 season and will be looking to replace the Cowboys' two-time All-American linebacker
Jordan Campbell.
During the 2012 season,
Jared Koster finished just one tackle (103 tackles) behind team leader
Jordan Campbell. He had 9.5 tackles for a loss of 24 total yards, one sack, one interception with an 11 yard return, and recovered two fumbles, helping the Cowboys to their best record since the late 1990s.

Eric Young brought Koster in last season as a transfer from UCLA. Coach Young said, "Koster is a high energy, high intensity guy with great instincts for the game. We are expecting big things from him this season. After the season he had in 2012, we expect him to come in here and step up to take control of our defense. Jared can produce on a consistent basis for us."
Koster has expressed that the main goal for the team this year is to win an NCAA DII National Championship. "The goal hasn't changed for me. I came here to win a national championship and we didn't get there in 2012, but we will be focused on getting it done this year."
He believes that the Cowboy Football team will be stronger this season because the core has been in place for an entire season and they are operating like a complete unit now. "We will be focusing on our overall discipline this season," said Koster. "On a personal level, I want to show that I am a first team All-American linebacker. I am looking to dominate the defensive standings in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and in Division II."
