NMHU was determined to keep the offense attack on the Cougars' goalkeeper, but the Cowgirls weren't able to find the winning goal before the end of regulation and the game was primed for overtime.

The Cowgirls were poised entering the first overtime period.  38 seconds into the first overtime, the Cowgirls scored the golden goal.
