LAS VEGAS, N.M. – It will be a huge weekend in baseball for both the Cowboys and Orediggers as both teams are fighting to remain in contention for a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament berth. New Mexico Highlands (9-13, 3-9 RMAC), coming off a tough series, losing all four games at #1 Colorado Mesa, takes on Colorado School of Mines (9-10, 4-8 RMAC) Friday-Sunday (March 27-29).

here. The Cowboys are coming off a tough stretch, having played a ranked team in three of the last four weekends (3-8 in those 11 games).

The Orediggers are only 2-7 in their last nine games, but have won their last two games to split the four-game set with Regis. In those two wins, the offense exploded for a 17-5 and 11-5 win. In fact, Colorado School of Mines scored just three runs less (31) during its seven-game losing streak (four runs per game) than during its two-game winning streak (28, 14 runs per game).
Connor Lambert leads the team with a .413 average, 31 hits and five home runs. Colorado School of Mines can hit the ball, as the Orediggers are hitting .311 as a team with seven guys (with more than 25 at-bats) are hitting better than .300.
Christian Rooney leads the team with a 3.00 ERA with a 3-2 record in 33 innings pitched.
The Cowboys and Orediggers play at 3 p.m. Friday, play two seven-inning contests Saturday at noon and finish up play with a nine-inning game Sunday at noon.
