Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas- The Cowboys headed to the mountain time zone on Friday to start a three games series with Lubbock Christian University. The Cowboys would fight back to make it close before a big Chaps eighth inning would seal win for LCU by a score of 7-2.

The Chaps would get on the board first in the third inning after sending four batters up in the first and just three in the second. Wilhelm would start the Chaps off with a single to left field. Bustamante hit a hard hit ball past the Cowboy's second baseman that score Wilhelm from first Baustamante would advance to second on a wild pitch then to third on a failed pick off attempt. Stewart would take advantage of the Cowboy's errors and hit a sacrifice fly to the right fielder.

Brian Chaparro was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth inning and would score on a two-out base hit by Garcia, cutting LCU's lead to 2-1. The Chaps would get the run back in the bottom of the seventh inning off aÂ
Brandon Urquizo single.

LCU was leading 3-1 in the top of the eighth inning when
Easton Garcia led off with a double and scored from second base on a wild pitch that got away in foul territory on the first-base side.

The Chaps would have a big inning in the bottom of the eighth. Drury would single up the middle. After a pitching change he would advance on a wild pitch. With runners on first and second Narvaiz wouls attempt to mobe the runners over but a throwing error by the Cowboy's first baseman would allow him to move to third and two runs to score to give the Chaps a 6-2 lead. Two batters later, Wilhelm singled and scores Narvaiz. The Chaps would score one more run to make it a 7-2 game.

LCU produced 11 hits and they came from seven different individuals. Wilhelm finished with three runs and went 3-for-4 from the plate.Â
Brandon Rix (2-for-3) and Stewart (2-for-4) also had a pair of hits for LCU. Garcia (2-for-5) and
Michael Sielinski each had multi-hit games in the loss for NMHU.

The two teams are scheduled for a doubleheader Saturday at Hays Field, with the first pitch set for 12 p.m.
