Cowgirls and Greyhounds To Clash In Portales

PORATLES, N.M.- Coach Karin Gadberry and the Cowgirls are heading to Portales to take on in state rival Eastern New Mexico. The Cowgirls and Greyhounds will play a double header at noon and 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
 
The Greyhounds currently hold a 4-3 record after going 2-3 at the West Texas Invitational this past weekend. The Greyhounds faced four RMAC opponents in the invitational. They lost 2-0 to Metro St., lost 8-3 against For Lewis, beat Adams St. 3-1, and lost to Chadron St 11-7. The Greyhounds have put the same defensive lineup on the field every game this season. They are lead in batting average by Erikka Burke who is batting .462. In 26 at bats she had one triple, two doubles, and 12 hits. Burke also leads the team in RBIs with 7.
 
The Cowgirls had the past weekend off after traveling to Las Vegas, N.V. for the Montana St. Desert Stinger. The Cowgirls have an overall record of 2-3. The Cowgirls are lead offensively by Jacquelyn Solis who is 15 plate appearances is batting .533 with one homerun, one double, eight hits, and six RBIs. On the mound for the Cowgirls Biranna Velasquez leads the team in ERA at 0.62 in three appearances and one start. She is 1-0 on the season with her win coming against Stanislaus St.
