Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas- The Cowboy baseball team took on regional opponent West Texas A&M in an afternoon doubleheader.

Game 1 Â The first game was a good old school pitching battle between
Cody Lawson and McAllister. The Cowboys would drop the first game by a score of 2-0.

In each of the first three innings the Buffs had one hit while McAllister held the Cowboys hitless. In the bottom on the fourth the Buffs would change that. Day singled up the middle After a fly out Henderson doubled to left field to give the Buffs two runners in scoring position. Fuller struck out swinging but the pitch was wild and he made it to first safety, while Day crossed the plate to make it a 1-0 game after four.

The Buffs would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. The Cowboys would try and make a come back.
Easton Garcia would single up the middle for the Cowboys first hit of the game. After two ground outs Garcia was at third, Alvaro Gonzales would walk and then advance to second on a pass ball. Lamont would step up to the plate but would watch strike three pass.

The Buffs would win the first game by a score of 2-0.

Game 2In the second game the Buffs bats would come alive and help them in a 8-4 win.

The Buffs waited no time to score in the second game. In the bottom of the first on a single by Hansen that score Sanchez from third. The Cowboys would answer in the top of the second. Gonzalez single through the left side with one out. Lamont would follow suit with a single up the middle. A single by Silva pushed Gonzalez across the plate and tie the game 1-1.

The Buffs would go off in the bottom of the second. After getting the first out the Cowboys would hit the next batter, LaBrie, who then advanced on a wild pitch. Sanchez dug into the box when we was hit by a pitch as well. Cole came up to bat and ripped a double down the left field line to score LaBrie. Chapman followed that up with a single to right field that scored Sanchez. Coach Hunt would then go to the pen with a runner at third. Day then hit a high fly ball to right field that allowed Cole to tag from third to make it 4-1. Chapman would then score two batters later on a wild pitch to make it 5-1 after two innings.

They would strike the Cowboys once again in the bottom of the fourth on an error by the Cowboy pitcher and when Hansen stole home. At the end of four the Cowboys trailed 7-1.

The Cowboys would strike again with a single by Caporal that scored Chilladi. The Buffs added another insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a single to right field by Shifett. The Cowboys would make a comeback in the top of the seventh. Chiladi walked after a ground out by Medina. Garcia would then force the Buff's shortstop to make a play, but was unable to field it and ended up on first. Caporal singled through the right side to score Chilladi. Blackwell grounded out to the second baseman but the play allowed Garcia to score from third. McCarty would ground out to the shortstop to end the game with a final score of 8-4.
