Flacons and Cowboys Spilt as Cowboys Break Losing Streak

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas- The Cowboy baseball team traveled to regional rival University of Texas Permian Basin for two games of the three game series today.
 
Game 1
The first game of the series would go in favor of the Flacons by a score of 5-1.
 
The Falcons would get on the board in the bottom of the first. Harris lead the Falcons with a four pitch walk then he would steal second with Andrade at the plate. Andrade would strike out and Barnes would step in the box. On the fifth pitch of the at bat Barnes made contact and hit a ball that would just stay fair that allowed Harris to score and put Barnes at second.
 
It wouldn't be til the bottom of the fourth and one combined hit before either team would put a number that wasn't a zero on the board. Barnes started off the inning with a sharp hit ball to the Cowboy first baseman who could not come up with the ball. Miller lined the firs pitch he saw to left field and pushed Barnes across as he stopped at second. Zazulak didn't want to be showed up and knocked a triple to center on a 2-2 count to give the Flacons a 3-0 lead.  Iturraide kept the rally going with a single to score Zazulak. Two batters later Houlihan put down a bunt to squeeze Iturraide home. And give the Falcons the 5-0 lead after four innings.
 
The Cowboys would get their lone run of the first game in the top of the fifth. Silva starter off the inning with a single on a throwing error by the shortstop. With a 1-1 count Chaparro singled up the middle to give the Cowboys runners on first and second. Sielinski hit into a fielder's choice where the Flacons got Chaparro at second. Chilladi singled to the shortstop on the 11th pitch of the at bat and scored Silvia.
 
The Falcons would take game one by a score of 5-1.

Game 2
The second game would take some extra baseball to finish the game the but Cowboys broke their eight game losing streak.
 
The Cowboys would start the game hot at the plate. Easton Garcia walked to lead off the Cowboys. Caporal singled past the third baseman to give the Cowboys runners on first and second. McCarty pushed the ball to right field and moved Caporal to third while scoring Garcia from second. After a Cowboy strike out Silva filed out to center and Caporal tagged from third to make it a 2-0 lead after a half inning.
 
The Falcons would make cut the Cowboy lead on by scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first. The Cowboys would put pressure on the Flacons when McCarty tripled to right field and scored on an error to lead off the third inning. The Cowboys would lead after three innings by a score of 3-1.
 
In the top of the fifth with two outs Alvaro Gonzalez walked and then stole second with Silva in the box. Silvia doubled to left field and score Gonzalez from second.
 
UTPB put pressure of their own on the Cowboys. With one out Munguia singled to left field. After a fly out Munguia tested his luck against the Cowboy battery by stealing second. Zazulak doubled to left field and scored Munguia from second to make it 4-2 at the end of six innings.
 
The Flacons wouldn't take an inning off at the plate. The Cowvboys would change pitchers in-between half innings and with one out Van Vranken homered to left field to make it a one run game, 4-3. After a hit by pitch the Cowboys would go to the pen and bring in another pitcher.  Harris would walk before Coach Hunt would once again call down to the pen. Clapperton then singled past to the first baseman and move Harris over to third, but an error by the first baseman would allow Harris to score and tie the game in the bottom of the seventh.
 
The Cowboys scored once again in the 10th inning. With one out Caporal singled to center to get the Cowboys going. McCarrty grounded out to third base but Caporal moved over to second. Gonzalez then stepped into the box and went deep over the left field wall to make it a 6-4 game and seal the win for the Cowboys.
 
The Cowboy and Falcons will play the rubber game of the series tomorrow at 11 a.m. Live stats will be available.
