Baseball Drops Second Straight to Tigers

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- After losing in extra innings yesterday afternoon the Cowboys were looking to get their first win of the season. The Cowboys were not able to do so with a 9-7 loss to the TIgers.
 
Cody Lawson got the nod and the struggled in the first inning. After getting Redington to ground out Lawson would then hit Cherryholmes and Urein to put runners on first and second. Mapes would then draw a walk which would load the bases. Lawson would get Ross to fly out and King to hit into a fielder's choice to end the top half of the first.
 
The Cowboys would get on the board first. Lead off hitter Easton Garcia would hit the Cowboy's first triple of the season. Blackwell would walk to get runners on the corners with McCarty at the dish. McCarty would hit a fly ball to the left field warning track for the sacrifice which would score Garcia. Alvaro Gonzales would single to center and would advance on the throw that was too late to get Blackwell at third. Blackwell scored on a pass ball. After one inning the score would be 2-0.
 
In the top of the third the Tigers would put pressure on the Cowboys. After back to back singles to start the inning Lawson would get Mapes to fly out to center for the first out. Cherryholmes and Unrein would double still to put runners on second and third. Ross would then ground out to Jesus Caporal which would score Cherryholmes. After two and a half the Cowboys would lead 2-1.
 
It wouldn't be until the fifth inning when either team would get back on the board. The Tigers' Redington would get bunt down the third base line and hustled down the line where he would reach safelywith no throw. A double by Cherryholmes would then double to center to score Redington all the way from first. Unrein would then single in the 5-6 hole to score Cherryholmes to make it a 3-2 Tigers lead.
 
The after a Cowboy line out Blackwell would single up the middle. McCarty would single through the left side and the Cowboys would have runners at the corners. Gonzalez would double down the left field line and to score Blackwell and move McCarty over to third. After five innings the Cowboys would tie the game at three all.
 
In the bottom of the sixth the Cowboys would look to score some insurance runs. Caporal would fly out then Sielinski would strike out for the first two outs in the inning. Cilladi would hit the ball to second and beat the throw that would get away from the first baseman and he would advance to second. Garcia would come to the plate and hit a towering homerun to take the 5-3 lead. After a pitching change Blackwell would reach first on a nice hit up the middle. A passed ball would move him to second. McCarty would put the ball in play to the shortstop when the first baseman could not come up with throw. Gonzales would reach on the throwing error by the shortstop which would score Blackwell. The Cowboys would lead 6-3.
 
The Tigers then answered with some runs of their own in the top of the seventh. With a runner on first Ross would double down the left field line to score Unrien. King would then single down the left field line to score Ross. With one swing Weiss would hit a two run homerun into left to give the Tigers the 7-6 lead.
 
After a Caporal walk, a Sielinski hit-by-pitch, and a Cilladi walk the Tigers would go to the bullpen. Garcia would ground into a double play that would score Caporal from third to make it a 7-7 game.
 
Sidelecki would come in to pitch the top of the eighth inning. It would be rough as after getting the leadoff hitter to ground out, he would give up a solo dinger to Redington that would give the Tigers the 8-7 lead. The Tigers would score an insurance run in the bottom of the ninth on a single by Weiss to give the Tigers the 9-7 win over the Cowboys.
 
The Cowboys and Tigers will wrap up their series tomorrow in a nine inning game starting at noon.
