Gonzalez Has 3 RBIs in Cowboys 6-5 Loss

Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The final game of the weekend series between the Cowboys and Mavericks. The Cowboys had an early homerun to put them ahead but a big inning by the Mavericks gave them the 6-5 win.
 
In the bottom of the half of the first inning Alvaro Gonzalez went deep to left with Joseph Cilladi on first to give the Cowboys the early 2-0 lead. Easton Garcia led off the third inning with a walk and Cilladi was hit by a pitch. On a ball in the dirt Garcia stole third. Gonzalez continued his hot streak and doubled to center to score Garcia and move Cilladi over to third. Jeremy McCarty hit into a fielder's choice where the Mavericks got the out at second but Cilladi scored and made it a 4-0 Cowboy lead.
 
The Mavericks had a big fifth inning. With one out and with runners on first and second Samuels singled through the right side and score Cantwell from second. Fife field out to right to move Carr to third. After a hit-by-pitch Camberlin singled to the pitcher where Carr scored and made it a 4-2 game. Young III singled to center and scored Samuels. PJ Gonzalez doubled down the left field line and both Camberlin and Young III scored to give the Mavericks their first lead of the game at 6-4.
 
The Cowboys started their comeback in the eighth inning. McCarty lead off the inning with a double to centerfield. He would then advance to third on a wild pitch. Jesus Caporal singled up the middle and McCarty touched the plate to make it a 6-5 game with just one more inning to play.
 
In the bottom of the ninth Garcia lead off the inning with a walk. The Mavericks would change pitchers as the switch hitting Cilladi stepped into the box. He laid down a bunt and moved Garcia over to second. On a Gonzalez ground out Garcia moved over to third with two outs. McCarty stuck out swinging and the game ended with the score of 6-5.
 
The Cowboys return to action next weekend at Colorado School of Mines. The first game will be on Friday at 6 p.m. Live stats will be available.
