Cowboys Split Day 2 Extra Innings Games Against Roadrunners

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 LAS VEGAS, N.M.- The Cowboys enter Sunday with a two game winning streak after snapping a 15 game losing streak with their last win coming against CSU-Pueblo almost a month ago, March 11th. The Cowboys were also looking for their first RMAC sweep since last season. The Cowboys won the first game, a nine innings game, in 11 innings by a score of 9-8. The Roadrunners would battle and win the second game by a score of 7-6.
 
Game 1
The Cowboys kept the runs coming after yesterday's wins. In the first inning. Easton Garcia walked and stole second before Joseph Cilladi grounded out to first that allowed Garcia to move over to third. Alvaro Gonzalez then hit a double to left and score his 30 RBI of the season. Jeremy McCarty traded place with Gonzalez. After just six out in the game the Cowboys led 2-0.
 
With Frankie Silva at first Garcia sent one to left center and ended up with a RBI triple. Cilladi grounded out to second but the Roadrunners conceded the run and got the out. Gonzalez then sent one to right center for his first triple of the year. McCarty singled to score Gonzales from third. It was a 5-0 game after just two innings.
 
Metro St. started their comeback in the top of the fifth. With Walker at first Levett, the leadoff hitter, doubled to center and Walker went all 270 feet to get the Roadrunners on the board.
 
It was the sixth inning that the Roadrunners come back as they scored four runs on four hits to tie the game up at five going into the bottom of the sixth. They took the lead in the seventh by scoring two runs.
 
In the bottom of the seventh the Cowboys cut the two run Roadrunner lead to one on a Emilio Medina ground out with McCarty on third.
 
Gonzalez led off the ninth with a double, his second of the game. After two Cowboy outs Brad Blackwell stepped in with two outs. With a 1-2 count he pulled on to right field and Gonzalez tied the game. We would head to extras.
 
The Roadrunners pushed a run across in the top of the 11th on a Cowboy error. THe Cowboys did not give up as Gonzalez led off the Cowboys again but this time with a walk. McCarty drove Gonzalez in with a double to right center. With two outs the and McCarty on third the Roadrunners walked Medina and Bryce Stanage to load the bases. Silvia stepped into the box and on a 1-1 pitch drove on a left center to score McCarty and give the Cowboys the 9-8 win.
 
Anthony Badalucco went 5.0 innings with giving up one run that was earned with one walk and one strikeout. The Cowboys bounced Vega, the Roadrunner starter after just an inning and two thirds.
 
 
Game 2
The Roadrunners didn't want to be swept as they started with the game with a two run homerun by Donaldson, his second first inning homerun of the series.  The Cowboys answered with a run of their own on a single by McCarty with Garcia at first.
 
The Cowboys added another run to tie the game in the bottom of the second. With Stanage at first Michael Sielinski doubled to right and scored Stanage but Sielinski was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.
 
Metro St. took the lead again in the top of the third. A three-run homerun by O'Donnell made it a 5-2 game. They added one more run after taking advantage of a Cowboy error earlier in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Germani.
 
The Cowboys answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Garcia scored on a Gonzlaez single down the right field line. McCarty followed with a double to right to score Caporal from second. A Stanage single to center score Gonzalez and McCarty to tie the game once again at 6-6.
 
Both teams would have to opportunities to score but neither could take the lead in the seven inning game. The two team headed to extra innings for the second time on Sunday. This time it would only take one inning as the Roadrunners scored on a double to left center with a runner on second to take the 7-6 lead and the game.
 
The Cowboys will be on the road next week at Colorado Christian. The two team will play four games with the first scheduled to start on Friday at noon. Live stats will be provided by Colorado Christian.
