Cowboys Look For More Wins Against Cougars

Last Time Out
The Cowboys went 3-1 this past weekend against Metro St. After a rain out on Friday the Cowboys took both games on Saturday thanks to Cody Lawson and Joel Lamont who each struck out nine batters in their starts. The Cowboys took game one on Sunday in 11 innings 9-8 but dropped the last game 7-6 in eight innings.
 
Last Time Cougars and Cowboys Met
The Cowboys and Cougars last met on April 10-12th last season. The Cowboys dropped the first game but 6-9 but took the last three games by score of 8-5, 6-4, and 9-6.
 
Scouting New Mexico Highlands
The Cowboys are led at the plate by Alvaro Gonzalez and Jesus Caporal, the only players with batting averages over .300 with at least 15 at bats. Gonzalez is batting .324 with 10 doubles, one triple, and 10 homeruns. He has also driven in 31 RBIs while slugging .632. Caporal is batting an even .300 with five doubles, one triple, and 17 RBIs.
 
On the mound the Cowboys are led by Cody Lawson in wins with a 2-1 record and a 4.22 ERA. Lawson has started all 10 games he has appeared in this season and has only 11 walks to 35 strikeouts in four complete games. Joel Lamont picked up his first win in a Cowboys uniform after 10 starts. He is now 1-5 with a 5.08 ERA. Max Siedlecki has been the other constant starter for Coach Hunt with eight starts. He has a 0-6 record with a 7.59 ERA.

The Cougars are coming off a series against Regis in which the Rangers took three-of-four.
 
Leading the way at the plate for the Cougars is Brandon Hesselberg with a .358 average. Right behind him in average is Jerry Gallegos with a .344 ERA with eight doubles, two triples, and three homeruns. In the RBI category Pete McWilliams leads the team with 25.
 
On the hill the Cowboys should expect to see Danny Graves, Ryan Erazo, and Matt Weaver. Graves has started 10 games this season for the Cougars which leads the team. He is a 1-5 record with a 6.49 ERA. Erazo has a 3-5 record with a 4.50 ERA while giving up 20 walks and striking out 34. Weaver is looking for his first win of the season as he is 0-7 with a 11.12 ERA.
