Cowboys Wrap-up 2017 Season This Weekend

The New Mexico Highlands University Baseball team will travel to Lakewood Colorado as they take on the Colorado Christian University Cougars on April 5^th at 3:00 p.m., April 6^th at 12:00 p.m., and April 7^th at 12:00 p.m. The Cowboys hold a 16-26 overall record, and a 9-19 RMAC record.
 
New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys: The Cowboys have won three straight and come in fresh off of a two game sweep against the University of the Southwest Mustangs. Senior Ben Smithson played a big role in a 10-1 win over the Mustangs as he smacked a homer and picked up 2 RBIs in the game. Sophomore Travis Spruiell also played well as he picked up 2 RBIs on the day. The Cowboys bull pen put in a solid days work as they only allowed 4 hits for the whole game.
 
Colorado Christian University Cougars: The Cougars enter this series on an 8 game skid, and a 16-29 overall record. Jerry Gallegos has been the most effective hitter for his team this season as he has a team-high .394 batting average. He has also hit 7 homers with 35 RBIs, which are also team highs. Austin Maltby has picked up 31 RBIs on the year, good for second on his team. Pitcher Joey Loranger has posted a 4.33 ERA on the mound, and he leads the Cougars with 53 strikeouts.
