Box Score Lakewood, CO- The New Mexico Highlands University Baseball team concluded their series with the Colorado Christian University Cougars with an 11-4 win. Your Cowboys finish the regular season with a 18-27 overall record and a 11-20 RMAC record.

Senior
Jeremy McCarty was the first Cowboy to reach base as he got on in the top of the first with a walk. A strikeout would leave him stranded. Senior pitcher
Cody Lawson started the day on the mound for the Cowboys. The Cougars would score the first 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore
Travis Spruiell got on base with a walk in the top of the second. Sophomore
Joseph Cilladi picked up the RBI as he notched a single up the middle, scoring Spruiell. Senior
Easton Garcia came to the plate next and hit a single to left field, earning 2 RBIs as Cilladi and Junior
Luis Ornelas scored. The Cowboys entered the bottom of the inning with a 3-2 lead, but the Cougars were able to pick up another run in the inning to knot the game back up at 3-3.

Junior
Codie Simmons led off the top of the fourth with a monster triple down the right field line. Cilladi came up and brought Simmons home with a single, putting the Cowboys up once again. Garcia flew out in his at bat, but it allowed Ornelas to find his way home. Senior
Brad Blackwell smacked a triple to left field, scoring Cilladi. Blackwell would later find his way home on a fly out. To cap off the scoring, Spruiell brought McCarty home with a single to left field. The Cougars scored one run in the bottom of the inning, but a monster top half of the inning would put the Cowboys up, 8-4.

Ornelas got on base in the top of the fifth with a walk. He would score later on an error by the Cougars. The bases were loaded when Junior
James Cordova earned a walk, scoring Cilladi. Junior
Eduardo Perez would pick up the RBI as he flew out and Garcia scored. Lawson limited the Cougars to one hit in the bottom of the inning.

Cilladi picked up a single in the top of the eighth, but the side would be retired before he could reach home. Senior pitcher
Max Siedlecki was on the mound in the bottom of the inning, and he did well as he limited the Cougars to one hit.

The Cowboys would go down in order in the top of the ninth, and Senior pitcher
Corey Nelson would relieve Siedlecki on the mound.

Nelson would only allow one hit with no damage done as he preserved the 11-4 victory for the Cowboys!

With that, the Cowboys wrap up their 2017 season.
