OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- The New Mexico Highlands wrestling team opened its season at the Oklahoma City University Open on Sunday and the Cowboys had five wrestlers place.
In the open division, NMHU's
Dom Rivera finished third at 125 while
Denzell Morrow took fourth at 184. In the Freshman/Sophomore division,
Julian Sanchez won the heavyweight division after going 5-0 – including three pins.
Allen Michel took third at 157 after going 5-1 on the day, including a pin at the 1:21 mark in the third-place match over a wrestler from Oklahoma City University while
Luke Allan took fourth at 197 after going 3-2.
The Cowboys return to action Nov. 17 when they participate in the UNK Holiday Inn Open in Kearney, Nebraska.
