Ivan Smith was named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division II At-Large Academic All-District Team. Additionally, Smith was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Smith, from Farmington, NM, has a perfect 4.00 grade point average at New Mexico Highlands University while majoring in Social Work.
On the this season mat, Smith had a stellar sophomore campaign highlighted by winning the NCAA Super Regional VI and qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships in Indianapolis. He was ranked #12 in the country at 165 pounds in the final NCAA Division II rankings released by The Open Mat and was 6-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals this season.
